ENDOMETRIOSIS

Posted By Dr. Deepti Asthana on 22-07-2020

What are symptom of endometriosis and what happens if endometriosis is left untreated?

The primary symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain, often concerned to menstrual periods. Although many experience cramping during their menstrual periods, those with endometriosis typically describe menstrual pain that is far worse than usual. Pain also may increase over time spend. If one left untreated endometriosis problem, endometriosis can (however does not always) result in a range of symptoms, including: Dysmenorrhoea (pain during menstruation) Pelvic pain and more. Endometriosis sometimes also caused to Infertility or may be inability to become pregnant or subfertility (a reduced ability to become pregnant).

Many girls often complain about severe lower abdominal pain during menstrual periods but they have no idea that this could be endometriosis also. They often think pain is often integral part of menstrual cycles and something is abnormal if there is no pain. They often get used to the pain, they take leaves from their schools, or workplace but do not bother to consult a gynaecologist. Any pain which is disrupting your normal lifestyle, may occur during menstrual cycle, ovulation, defecation or even urination ...is highly suspicious of endometriosis. The definitive diagnosis is by diagnostic laparoscopy, though ultrasound and MRI might help in cases of ovarian endometriosis. Treatment usually needs to be individualized according to the age and presenting symptoms. So carryon message, it is always better to suspect endometriosis in every case of severe dysmenorrhea.
